SYS-FIT Fitout FAQ

Find answers about choosing fitouts, container compatibility, custom builds, maintenance schedules, and pairing fitouts with SYS-ORG bins.

How do I choose between fitout products?

Start by identifying your primary use case:

Transport-first:

  • Prioritize protection and labeling
  • Choose containers based on tool footprint
  • Consider Grabo Fitout or Nexus Dock for specialized tools

Deploy-first:

  • Prioritize access order and grab-zones
  • Map compartments to your workflow
  • Consider Pod Dock for bench hardware or BenchGrip Sets for complete kits

Mobile workflows:

  • Choose fitouts that pair well with your transport method (van, cart, bench)
  • Plan adjacency with SYS-ORG bins and SYS-GRP workholding

See the SYS-FIT Overview & Selection guide for detailed decision frameworks.

Can I use these fitouts with non-FORG3D Systainers?

Yes. All SYS-FIT fitouts are designed for standard Systainer³ and Sortainer/2 containers. You can source containers from:

  • Systainer Store
  • Your existing Systainer collection
  • FORG3D (bundled fitout + container options available)

What's the difference between a fitout and a container?

A fitout is the engineered insert that goes inside a Systainer. The container is the Systainer shell itself.

You can purchase:

  • Insert-only: Just the fitout (use with your own Systainer)
  • Complete fitout: Fitout + FORG3D Edition Systainer bundled together

Can I build my own custom fitout?

Yes. The Pod Dock is specifically designed as a build-your-own solution. You configure the combination of pods based on the SYS-GRP hardware you use most.

See the SYS-FIT Pod Dock — Setup Guide for layout strategies and recommended components.

Build-your-own checklist

If you're creating a custom fitout:

How do I maintain my fitouts?

Quarterly maintenance:

  • Fastener check (if applicable)
  • Magnet retention check (Grabo Fitout)
  • TPU saddle cleaning (Grabo Fitout)
  • Insert inspection for cracks or compression
  • Compartment reorganization (Pod Dock)

Annual maintenance:

  • Replace worn pads/saddles
  • Update labels as contents evolve
  • Audit contents — remove unused items, add frequently-used items

For product-specific care, see:

Where do I source Systainer containers?

Source Systainer³ and Sortainer/2 containers from:

  • Systainer Store (primary source for standalone containers)
  • FORG3D (bundled fitout + container options)
  • Use containers you already have on hand

Container requirements by product:

  • Grabo Fitout: Systainer³ M 237
  • Nexus Dock: Sortainer/2 (M 337)
  • Pod Dock: Systainer³ S 76
  • BenchGrip Sets: Systainer³ S 76 (included in kit)

Can I pair fitouts with SYS-ORG bins?

Yes. SYS-FIT Fitouts are designed to pair with SYS-ORG PodBins and other organization products. Consider organizing your fitouts alongside:

  • SYS-ORG PodBins for small fittings, gaskets, and spare parts
  • SYS-GRP Pod Dock for workholding hardware
  • SYS-FIT Nexus Dock for vacuum source storage

This creates a complete system where tools, pods, and accessories each have a home.

What if my Systainer lid won't close?

If the lid doesn't close properly:

  1. Check for over-packing — remove taller items or reduce quantity
  1. Verify the insert is seated flush in the shell
  1. Confirm parts aren't sticking above the compartment walls
  1. Test with the fitout empty to rule out insert fitment issues

If problems persist, contact FORG3D support.

How do BenchGrip Sets differ from Pod Dock?

BenchGrip Sets (Verso / Max):

  • Pre-configured pod selection (3-5 pods)
  • Includes Systainer³ S 76 + PodDock fitout
  • Optimized for specific workflows (flexibility vs power)
  • Ready to use out of the box

Pod Dock:

  • Build-your-own approach
  • Configure compartments based on your workflow
  • Choose which pods, AnchorDogs, and rail inserts to include
  • Requires purchasing Systainer³ S 76 separately

Can I store Nexus in the Grabo Fitout?

No. The Grabo Fitout is designed specifically for handheld Grabo and Grabo Pro units. It is not compatible with Nexus.

For Nexus storage, use the Nexus Dock — see SYS-FIT Nexus Dock — Setup Guide.
