Safety guidelines, cleaning procedures, troubleshooting, and warranty information

Safety

Not Recommended Operations

  • High side-load cuts
  • Prying operations
  • Heavy machining without secondary restraint

Always test before committing to a cut.

PPE & Safe Release

Personal protective equipment:

  • Wear eye protection
  • Wear hearing protection

Safe vacuum release:

  • Support the work while venting vacuum to prevent sudden movement
  • Use inline valve or SYS-GRP Hub for controlled release

Test Before Starting

Try to move the piece lightly. If there's slip or an audible leak, stop and re-seat.

Maintenance

Routine Cleaning

After each use:

  • Wipe down work surfaces with a clean, dry cloth
  • Remove dust, chips, and debris
  • Wipe gaskets clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth
  • Clear dust from the pod upper (sealing surface)

Weekly (heavy use):

  • Check vacuum hose for kinks, cuts, or damage
  • Verify connections are secure
  • Check inline filter condition (if installed)
  • Clean or replace pump filters as needed

Replacing Gaskets

When to replace:

  • Visible cuts, tears, or damage
  • Permanent compression (no longer springs back)
  • Reduced holding performance

Gaskets are consumables—replace when wear or damage appears.

Storage

AnchorPod:

  • Store flat or in Systainer fitouts
  • Protect upper (sealing surface) from impact
  • Keep clean and dry

Gaskets:

  • Store flat or in dedicated compartments
  • Avoid imprinting or creasing gaskets on hard edges
  • Use a SYS-ORG bin or FORG3D Edition storage where available

Hoses and fittings:

  • Coil hoses loosely (avoid tight kinks)
  • Store in organized compartments
  • Keep fittings clean and protected

Troubleshooting

AnchorPod Won't Hold

Check for:

  • Debris on surfaces → Clean all contact surfaces
  • Surface porosity → Use sealed spoilboard or AnchorPod Edition pods
  • Workpiece warping → Flatten workpiece or add spacers
  • Insufficient vacuum → Verify vacuum source is working
  • Worn gasket → Replace gasket
  • Dog hole damage → Repair work surface or use different hole

Workpiece Slipping

Solutions:

  • Add a stop or fence for anti-rotation
  • Increase pod count
  • Reduce side-load (lighter passes, lower feed rates)
  • Ensure surfaces are clean and dry
  • Triangulate pod layout

Vacuum Underperforms

Check:

  • Filters (clean or replace if clogged)
  • Hose length or leaks (shorten hose or replace damaged sections)
  • Connections (verify push-to-connect fittings are secure)
  • Vacuum source meets minimum requirements

Air Leaks (Audible Hissing)

Check for:

  • Poor gasket seal → Verify flatness, add spacers, check for debris
  • Damaged gasket → Replace gasket
  • Loose fittings → Reseat fittings, apply thread sealant if needed
  • Perforated surface → Seal nearby holes or use spoilboard
  • Dog hole seal failure → Tighten internal M6 bolt with 4 mm hex or Argos
