INSTRUCTIONS

Step
Do this
Pass check
1
Remove the factory port plug (or remove the vacuum gauge on a Nemo Grabo)
Port is open; factory nut saved for future removal
2
Remove the supplied “Joey” nut from the adapter
Threads are clean and ready
3
Confirm the “Joey” washer is seated against the bottom of the adapter
Washer is flush and centered
4
Insert adapter through the Grabo body with the washer outside the vacuum chamber (Nemo: enlarge hole as needed, test-fit as you go)
Adapter seats cleanly without forcing
5
Thread the supplied “Joey” nut onto the adapter
Nut starts smoothly by hand
6
Tighten to seal (do not over-torque)
Seal is tight; no deformation or damage
7
Leak test: valve closed, place Grabo on non-porous surface, verify no leaks; then connect system and open valve
No leaks; vacuum holds; system behaves normally
  1. To start, you will need to remove the factory port plug from your Grabo Pro-Lifter 20. You can do this with a 5mm hex bit or allen wrench and 9/16" socket by flipping your Grabo over to find the nut and loosen, using the hex wrench to keep the bolt from spinning. For the Nemo Grabo you will remove the vacuum gauge, this has no effect on the function of the unit.
  1. Once you've removed the factory plug, thread the factory nut back onto the bolt and keep in the even you would like to remove the Grabo adapter in the future
  1. Remove the supplied 'Joey' nut from the threads of the Grabo adapter
  1. Make sure the 'Joey' washer is seated well against the bottom of the Grabo adapter (your 'Joey' washer may differ in color than what is pictured)
  1. Insert the Grabo adapter thru the body of the Grabo with the 'Joey' washer on the outside of the vacuum chamber. With the Nemo Grabo you will need to slightly enlarge the hole where you removed the vacuum gauge prior to taking this step. We recommend sneaking up on this fit as the 1/8" NPT connection on the bottom of the adapter is tapered, something just under 3/8" drill bit and working up to 25/64" drill bit but test (with the 'Joey' washer) as you progress thru the different sizes to nail the fit.
  1. Thread the supplied 'Joey' nut onto the threads of the adapter
  1. Tighten the nut down to seal the adapter against the Grabo body. Do not over torque or apply extra 'ugga-dugga' to the nut
  1. Actuate the valve closed on the assembly and place the Grabo on a non-porous surface. This step is critical to test for any vacuum leaks.
  1. Once you are statisfied there are no leaks you can hook your vacuum work-holding system to the push to connector port on the adapter and open the valve.
  1. Take a drink and enjoy your new mobile vacuum work holding solution

NOTES

  • To use the Grabo to generate a vacuum, place the Grabo on a non-porous surface (such as our Nexus backplate) and activate
  • Once the vacuum work-holding pods or alternative device has a seal on a work piece you should see the vacuum pressure rise on the Grabo
  • The Grabo may or may not cycle off during use, this is all dependent on both the work piece being held and the surface the Grabo is placed upon.
